NH woman leaves family to help flood victims in TX
BRAUNFELS, TEXAS - Traci Smith is from New Hampshire but Monday she left her family and boarded a plane for Texas as an American Red Cross volunteer to help with the relief efforts from the massive flooding.
Her job is to assess the devastation in 22 different counties.
She said there are more than 2,000 homes damaged just in that area.
Smith originally planned on staying for a couple weeks but now because of the widespread devastation, she said will stay longer.
There are hundreds of volunteers, but there is still so much that needs to be done, she said.
The biggest need, Smith said, is monetary donations as well as more skilled volunteers.
NH1 News will continue to track Smith and her mission in Texas.
