NASHUA — An investigation into a woman for exploiting and elderly person results in her arrest.
Deborah Bernard, 51, of Nashua, was arrested Thursday after an investigation found that she had been taking money from an elderly person, police said.
On March 30, Nashua police received a letter from the Bureau of Elderly Adult Services claiming that Bernard was financially exploiting an elderly victim and began investigating.
Members of the Nashua Criminal Investigation Division found that Bernard was helping the victim with their day to day tasks and that over the past year had withdrawn over $1,500 in unauthorized transactions from the victim's bank account.
Bernard was arrested for felony exploitation of the elderly which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
Bail was set at $15,000 and is scheduled to appear in Nashua district court July 7.
