NH university's new director of athletics to take over position this summer

RINDGE — Franklin Pierce University will appointment a new director of athletics, with the upcoming retirement of current Director of Athletics Bruce Kirsch.

Kirsch is retiring in June after 45 years of employment at Franklin Pierce University and will be succeeded by Rachel Burleson.

Burleson has prior experience working in the athletic departments of other universities across the country.

Her resume includes work at Western State Colorado University as assistant athletic director for equipment, events and facilities, where she coordinated marketing, promotions, and fundraising for athletics.

At Missouri Southern State University she served as associate athletic director for compliance and administration and also as the director of internal operations and the NCAA Division II compliance officer.

University President Kim Mooney said Burleson was a "stand-out candidate."

"Her experience and passion will fortify and propel Franklin Pierce’s athletic department, and I am confident that she will bring a spirit of collaboration and a commitment to strong communication that will extend throughout the University," Mooney said.

Burleson will begin her work as director of athletics starting July 1.
