NH tops in the nation when it comes to being saddled with student debt

New Hampshire students receive the largest student debt upon graduation, according to a new report.

Project on Student Debt at The Institute for College Access & Success reported that at public and non-profit colleges in 2015, percent of graduating seniors had student loans.

The average debt was $30,100, which was up four percent compared to the class of 2014.

New Hampshire had the highest average student debt at $36,101.

High-debt states remain concentrated in the Northeast and Midwest, with low-debt states mainly in the West.
