NH State Trooper's cruiser hit on Route 3

BEDFORD - A N.H. State Trooper's cruiser was struck on Route 3.

On Saturday at about 1:37 p.m., Trooper Nathan Johnston responded to a disabled car that had spun out and was stuck in a snow bank on the ramp from Rte. 3 to the R.W. Drive West.

Johnston parked his cruiser behind the disabled car with his blue lights on to cause passing cars to slow down, and protect the motorist waiting for a tow truck.

Moments after Johnston arrived on scene, Karen Sudal, 38 from Merrimack, crashed her 2007 Chrysler Sebring into the side of Johnston's cruiser creating significant damage and injuring the officer.

Johnston was transferred by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital in Nashua, he was treated for back pain and released.

Sudal and her passenger were not injured, but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
