The mother of a 14-year-old girl filed a complaint with police in January, claiming Tasker had been soliciting her daughter for sex through Facebook.

According to paperwork, Tasker had met the girl and later contacted her via Facebook. In a message he asked her age and then said “girls like you could get me into trouble.” In later conversations, Tasker asked the girl to perform sexual acts.

An undercover officer posing as the girl said Tasker continued to reference sex and offered to get the girl marijuana. At one point he suggested using a secure app that self-destructs messages.

With the assistance of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, police contacted Tasker through the girls social media account and set up a meeting. When Tasker arrived to the location, police were waiting to place him under arrest.

A search warrant of his home uncovered hallucinogenic mushrooms, marijuana and Suboxone.

Tasker is facing four felony charges, including certain uses of computer services and possession of controlled drugs with intent to distribute.

Republican party leaders are urging Tasker to step down.

“The charges against Representative Tasker are deeply troubling and disgusting. He is clearly unfit to hold public office and he must resign immediately,” said GOP Chair Jennifer Horn.

“Representative Tasker is facing serious charges that, if true, are beyond the bounds of human decency. It is clear given the seriousness of these allegations, Rep. Tasker will be unable to represent his constituents effectively, and should resign immediately,” said House Speaker Shawn Jasper.

Tasker is being held on $250,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court March 21.
