NH State Police: 80-year-old Westmoreland man killed after tractor rolls over on him

The Associated Press

WESTMORELAND (AP) — State police say an 80-year-old southwest New Hampshire man was killed after a tractor rolled over on top of him and pinned him underneath.

The victim's wife called 911 just after 2 p.m. Thursday to report the accident in Westmoreland.

State police say the man was driving the tractor up a long driveway in front of his house when it suddenly veered off a stone wall, rolled over and crushed him underneath.

Westmoreland firefighters pronounced the man dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until other family members can be notified.

State police say there is no reason to believe that the man was under the influence at the time and it appears that his death was accidental.
