NH residents seem to be super generous when it comes to tipping - but not for coffee

NEW HAMPSHIRE - Tipping contributes billions of dollars to the economy each year, and overall Granite Staters are generous when it comes to the practice.

A new study from Lavu ranked states in four areas of tipping: Overall tipping, table service, bars and coffee shops.

In the East Coast verses the West Coast, New Englanders were the top tippers in all but the bar category.

The average overall tipping on the east coast was nearly 2 percent higher than on the West Coast.

Again, New Hampshire ranked third best in the U.S. for overall tipping with a 21.14 percent average. Restaurant tableside tipping came in at an average of 20.81 percent, bar tipping 21.9 percent, and coffee bar tipping came in at just 13.72 percent (the lowest rate in the U.S.)
