NH resident donates almost 3,000 political books to Saint Anselm College
MANCHESTER — One generous Manchester resident donated 2,700 presidential books to New Hampshire's Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College.
Dr. Arthur Young and his wife Patricia cut the ribbon Friday to unveil the institute's newest collection of memorabilia.
The former librarian and history buff talked to NH1 News about his unique collection adding that "Andrew Jackson was the only president to kill a person."
Patricia Young spoke briefly about the collection and the love her husband has for political literature.
"I think his interest is always in teaching students to look for the original resources when you can ... hoping students will have the opportunity to reuse that in the political science and history courses here."
The extensive collection covers presidential history dating back to the Revolutionary War all the way up to President Barack Obama.
Students and the public are invited to come enjoy the collection in new state-of-the-art book cases.
