NH Pumpkin Festival 2015 is this weekend. Here's what you should know
LACONIA - It's Pumpkin Fest weekend! There's one thing everyone already knows. There will be A LOT of pumpkins.
But here are some things about the festival you might not know, but you really, really should.
It's in Laconia this year
After decades in Keene, the Pumpkin Festival has moved to Laconia. After Keene State College students rioted during the event last year, the city decided not to renew the contract of the festival. Laconia quickly stepped in and welcomed it.
It's the 25th anniversary of the festival
Nancy Sporborg founded the Pumpkin Festival in 1991 (originally called the Harvest Festival). In the long tradition of pumpkins, the festival has been featured on television multiple times. It's set world records. It's lost world records. And then it has set them again.
The world record for most lit jack-o'-lanterns at once is 30,581 - set in Keene in 2013.
There are going to be SO MANY activities
The festival's official hours are 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday, but roads start to close at 6 a.m.
Here's a jam-packed map of everything that's going on Saturday.
