NH Police: 2 pounds of pot, 10 marijuana plants found in rented car after traffic stop

NORTH HAMPTON - A traffic stop after N.H. State Police noticed a car tailgating another turned into a huge drug bust on Thursday afternoon.

Police said a trooper stopped Michael Donovan, 26 of Massachusetts, in a rented Nissan Versa for tailgating at about 4 p.m.

The trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana and called in a K-9 unit to assist with the investigation.

The car was towed and a search warrant was obtained.

Seventeen glass jars containing about two pounds of marijuana and 10 marijuana plants were found inside, the police said. The estimated street value of it was $35,000.

Police said an arrest is being issued for Donovan and he will be charged with possession of a controlled drug, transportation of a controlled drug, and possession of a controlled drug with the intent to distribute.
