NH on pace for 487 overdose deaths in 2016, fentanyl the leading killer so far

Fentanyl has been responsible for the most overdose deaths in New Hampshire as of June 15, data from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner shows.

141 drug overdose deaths have been recorded in the Granite State so far in 2016, projecting a total of 487 — 49 more than the 438 overdose deaths that plagued the Granite State in 2015.

The 54 lives fentanyl has claimed is followed by the 34 overdose deaths that included fentanyl laced with other drugs (excluding heroin).

Heroin overdoses alone were responsible for killing two, and heroin combined with other drugs, including fentanyl, combined for seven deaths.
