NH native Victoria Arlen to report on Special Olympics for ESPN

2012 Paralympic Game winner, Victoria Arlen announced that she will cover the Special Olympic World Games as a reporter for ESPN this summer.

On Facebook, Arlen shared her excitement with friends and followers:

In early 2009 at just 11 years old, Arlen was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis and Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis , two extremely rare neurological conditions leaving her paralyzed from the waist down.

Just three years later, Victoria competed and won a Gold medal in London at the Paralympics. She holds the World record in the 100 and 400 Meter freestyle in swimming.

Now, the lifelong sports fanatic and swimmer is living her dream of becoming part of the ESPN family.

"My advice for an aspiring athlete with disabilities or not, is to believe in yourself, defy the odds and don’t focus on what you don’t have," Arlen posts on Facebook. "Don’t ever lose your hope. “Face it, embrace it, defy it, and conquer it.”
