NH motorists will soon be able to buy pre-paid E-ZPass devices.

Using the E-ZPass just got a lot simpler.

Instead of going to a Department of Motor Vehicles office, filling out an application, giving a credit card number, and attaching a permanent transponder to your windshield, motorists will soon be able to buy pre-paid E-ZPass devices.

It's called E-Z Pass On the Go, and will be sold at the Hooksett Toll Plaza from toll booths in lanes one and two, both northbound and southbound.

In-lane retail sale of transponders will be for two-axle, four-tire passenger vehicles only (no commercial vehicles
Users get a 30-percent discount on tolls at any New Hampshire toll plaza. Residents from any state can purchase an On-the-Go transponder and become a NH E-ZPass account holder, or can add an additional transponder to an existing NH E-ZPass account.

Pre-programmed E-ZPass transponders are $25, cash only, and are pre-loaded with $9 in tolls (packaging cost included). Mounting strips and instructions for on-line registration are included.

On-the-Go transponders are also available at NH Liquor & Wine Outlets on I-93 in Hooksett and I-95 in Hampton, as well as select AAA locations. The NHDOT hopes to expand the E-ZPass On-the-Go program to additional toll plazas.
