HAMPSTEAD — Police arrested a woman after they received a tip that she may be driving drunk with children in her car.
On Tuesday around 9 p.m., Hampstead police responded to Cherry Village Pizza. The caller advised that the woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, was getting ready to drive and had her two children with her.
Police found the car the caller described and stopped it on Route 111 near the Phan Zone Sports Center.
During the stop, police determined that Victoria Russell, 34, appeared to be intoxicated and charged her with aggravated driving while intoxicated and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
About an hour earlier, police in Plaistow and Atkinson received a similar call stating that Russell was leaving an establishment in Haverhill, Mass., and appeared to be under the influence. Police could not locate her car at that time.
No court date has been set for Russell. Police did not have the age of the children and could not say who the children were released to or whether the Division for Children, Youth and Families had been contacted.
