NH man who allegedly shot acquaintance in chest pleads guilty to first-degree assault
FARMINGTON — A man charged with attempted murder chose to plead guilty to first-degree assault before his trial was scheduled to begin Tuesday morning.
20-year-old Nathan Foster allegedly shot his acquaintance Austin Downs in the chest at close range after an argument on Ridge Road in Farmington last August.
Police said the shooting happened after an argument and that Foster fled in a pickup truck stolen from a neighbor.
By accepting the capped plea, Foster will serve no more than 15 years in prison. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 15.
