NH man handed 6 felony sex assault charges involving girl
NASHUA — A Nashua man is facing six felony charges after an investigation of a sexual assault led to his arrest.
Police said they were called to a city residence the afternoon of June 20 for a reported sexual assault. Officers were told that a juvenile was sexually assaulted by someone she knew over an extended period of time. After a ramped-up investigation, detectives acquired a warrant for the arrest of Edward Rivera, 29, of 27 Central St., Nashua.
Rivera was arrested Friday about 5:17 p.m. and was charged with one class B felony count of sexual assault and five class A felony counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault.
A class B felony is punishable by up to seven years in prison, exclusive of fines. Each class A felony is punishable by up to fifteen years in prison, exclusive of fines.
Rivera was arraigned Monday in Nashua district court. He is being held on bail and is next scheduled to appear in court July 11.
