NH man breaks into apartments in Maine to eat, shower and have a beer, police said
BERWICK, Maine - A Dover man is accused of breaking into two apartments, helping himself to food, taking a shower, and throwing back a cold beer.
According to Fosters Daily Democrat, Todd LeGrand, 53, of Dover, was arrested Thursday afternoon when a woman came home to her apartment and found her animals outside and horses from a nearby barn roaming free. She then found LeGrand in her apartment and called 911, police said. When officers arrived, LeGrand took off barefoot but was caught after several minutes.
Police discovered LeGrand had forced his way into two separate apartments and spent several hours inside, eating, showering, and drinking beer. Police also said he stole money and other items.
LeGrand had been arrested on Monday by Berwick Police for an outstanding warrant and was released from custody on Wednesday, police said. Berwick Police added that he had taken a taxi from Sanford to North Berwick, but did not pay for the ride.
