NASHUA—A Nashua man has been arrested and charged with a pair of felonies after he allegedly strangled and sexually assaulted a woman early Saturday morning.
Police received a call about 3:26 a.m. about an alleged assault at a Nashua residence. A woman reported that an acquaintance, Roy Fontes, 39, had strangled and sexually assaulted her.
The woman sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
Shortly after the report, police located Fontes walking downtown. Police determined that he had an Electronic bench warrant, and placed Roy under arrest on the warrant.
Detectives charged Fontes with one felony count of aggravated felonious sexual assault and a class B felony count of second degree assault.
Each class A felony is punishable by up to fifteen years in state prison, exclusive of fines. Each class B felony is punishable by up to seven years in state prison, exclusive of fines.
Fontes is being held on $50,000 cash bail pending his arraignment Monday in Nashua District Court.
