NH man accused of pooping on sidewalk across from police station

MANCHESTER - A man was arrested after police said he dropped his pants and began to defecate on the sidewalk across from their Manchester headquarters.

Manchester police said at about 2 p.m. a pair of officers noticed a man standing on the northwest corner of Valley Street and Maple Street, in front of Gill Stadium and across from the police department.

The officers said the man began unzipping his pants, and they believed he may be about to urinate, but instead he dropped his pants completely and began defecating on the sidewalk.

The officers stopped Steven Clement, 57 of Manchester, and charged him with criminal mischief, public urination or defecation and indecent exposure/lewdness. He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on Friday.

Police said there were several businesses in the area Clement soiled, including Granite State Escape, where a school bus pulled up to pick up some kids while police were speaking to Clement. Luckily, no children witnessed the defecation.

A crew from the Manchester Department of Public Works responded to the scene to clean up the mess.
