NH lawmakers to tour Sununu Youth Services Center in Manchester

CONCORD — A group of lawmakers is planning to tour a facility for juvenile delinquents in Manchester amid ongoing discussions about how the center can reduce its budget.
The Sununu Youth Services Center in Manchester is a state-run juvenile detention facility for teenagers from ages 13 to 17.
The state budget — passed by lawmakers, but vetoed by Hassan — would have cut the center's budget by $5.1 million over the next two years.
It also would've required the center to develop a cost savings plan by November that explores, among other things, privatizing services.
Amid the budget impasse, an eight-member legislative working group is continuing discussions on the center's costs. The group's work begins Monday with a tour of the facility.
Hassan also visited the center recently.
