NH Labor Day weekend travel up 15 percent from last year

HOOKSETT- According the Department of Transportation, this holiday weekend travel was up fifteen percent from last year. If you look at all of last week, travel is up close to 11 percent.

It's good news for NHDOT as it means a lot of cash coming into the tolls. They set a single day record with Monday's numbers of more than 330,000 vehicles.

"As far as the weekend goes, probably a combination of the great weather, the fleeting summer days, the Labor Day weekend, lower gas prices, all combined to just bring a lot of people into New Hampshire," said NHDOT spokesperson Bill Boynton.

DOT says about 45 percent of drivers who come through our tolls are from out of state, which brings in a lot of outside money to help maintain our highways.
