NH judges reject sentence reduction of Brentwood man who tortured girlfriend's son in 2012

The Associated Press

BRENTWOOD - A panel of judges has refused to reduce the prison sentence of a N.H. man accused of torturing his girlfriend's 3-year-old son before he and the woman fled to a Florida amusement park.

Roland Dow and Jessica Linscott were arrested at the Universal Orlando Resort in November 2012, two weeks after leaving her son at a hospital with a brain injury, head-to-toe bruises and burns on his arm and hand.

Dow was convicted of 11 charges, including assault, and sentenced to 25 ½ to 67 years in state prison. He asked last week to have his time cut his time to 5 to 10 years, but judges rejected that request Thursday.

Prosecutors describe Dow's treatment of the child as sadistic, and relatives say he still has nightmares about the abuse.
