NH inventor and entrepreneur is set to open a Manchester restaurant

MANCHESTER - Dean Kamen, a NH native and the inventor of the Segway, has another project underway.

Kamen, who holds more than 400 patents both domestically and internationally, is planning to open a restaurant.

According to the Union Leader, the space where Jillian’s and World Sports Grille used to occupy is set to be the home for Kamen’s new restaurant called The Foundry.

Nate Carney, the restaurant’s general manager confirmed the news Friday and said, “He’s the sole owner.”

Don Clark, who manages the 12,000 square foot property on 50 Phillippe Cote Street, applied for an $800,000 building permit for renovations.

The restaurant will be the newest endeavor for Kamen, who in addition to the Segway invented the first wearable insulin pump for diabetics and a prosthetic arm for wounded soldiers.
