NH hiker with ax injury rescued on White's Ledge Loop Trail
ALBANY — A New Hampshire woman was rescued Saturday after hiking and falling on an exposed blade of an ax.
On June 24 around 5:45 p.m., Jessica Casey, 31 of Fremont, was hiking the White's Ledge Loop Trail when she fell and severely cut her arm on the exposed blade of an ax that was fastened outside her pack.
Members of Casey's hiking party were able to phone 911 for assistance and were subsequently able to get her bleeding under control.
Fire, police and forest personnel cared for her wound and as her initial shock dissipated she was able to walk out on her own.
After reaching the trailhead, Casey was transported by ambulance to the Memorial Hospital in North Conway for treatment.
