MERRIMACK - Firefighters responded to reports of a fire at St. Gobain Performance Plastics at 701 Daniel Webster Highway Tuesday afternoon.
St. Gobain personnel reported a fire in a large fabric coating tower.
Crews saw smoke and fire coming from plant equipment, and used carbon dioxide in order to prevent spreading burning oils with water.
Buildup of processing material in a spill tray that overheated is believed to be the fire's cause.
St. Gobain was able to resume normal operations later the same day.
