NH Firefighters battle blaze in mansion apartments in Laconia
LACONIA- Officials are investigating the cause of an early morning fire that burned in an apartment building in Laconia Thursday.
Laconia Fire Department Lt. J-P Hobby said they were called to a reported structure fire about 4:30 a.m. at 15 Orange Court.
Hobby said arriving firefighters found heavy fire from the first floor of the building that he described as a "large, historic mansion cut up into apartments."
The fire, said Hobby, was heavily involved in one apartment and had "spread throughout the building."
Hobby could not confirm whether there were any injuries to residents but did say no firefighters were injured fighting the blaze.
Several area departments assisted Laconia in fighting the fire, which is across the street from Belknap County Superior Court in a congested area.
The cause remains under investigation.
