NH fire investigators say lightning may have sparked blaze that destroyed an SUV

NASHUA— Nashua fire investigators say lightning from an evening storm may have sparked a blaze that destroyed a vehicle and damaged a home Wednesday.
Nashua Fire Rescue responded to 27 Pitarys Drive for several reports of a car on fire outside of the home. Arriving firefighters found a fully-involved SUV parked close to the building, and flames beginning to ignite several feet up the wall immediately adjacent to the burning vehicle.
Additional help was requested to the scene as the evening's storm continued to bring thunder and rain the the area. . Neighbors reported a bright flash of lightning and loud crack of thunder just before noticing the vehicle burning. There was evidence of a lightning strike in the area of the home, which was vacant at the time the fire broke out.
The home sustained heavy Fire damage to the left side siding and windows of the exterior of the home above the garage.
The fire remains under investigation.
