NH filmmaker: Documentary chronicling stories about heroin nearly done

The Associated Press

PORTSMOUTH (AP) — A New Hampshire filmmaker has nearly completed a documentary chronicling life and death stories about the opioid crisis.

Michael Venn tells the Portsmouth Herald "The Heroin Effect" is being submitted to film festivals.

Among those telling their stories is a woman in recovery who turned her concept about a Portsmouth recovery center into reality; and a Portsmouth High School graduate and recovering addict who is the co-founder of Bonfire Recovery Services.

Venn says he expects the film will offer hope, change perceptions and inspire.
