ROCHESTER — The Rochester Farmers Market kicked off their Vouchers for Veterans program Tuesday.

The programs allows for all Strafford County residents to bring their DD214 or valid driver's license bearing their veteran status and to then be entitled to a $20 voucher to spend at any of the market's vendors.

The Rochester Farmers Market season began June 13 and will be held every Tuesday on the Rochester Common through the end of September.

Benedict's Restaurant and its patrons raised $32,000 to support the program this year, enabling those who have served a chance to pick up fresh fruits, vegetables, produce, meats, cheeses and more from local vendors.

“We are beyond excited to provide this benefit to veterans in our community,” Economic Development Specialist Jennifer Marsh said. “Our veterans committed themselves to defending our way of life, and we look forward to welcoming them to the market and thanking them for their service.”

If you missed yesterday's market, veterans will have four more opportunities to collect and use a voucher:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 5
  • Tuesday, Sept. 12
  • Tuesday, Sept. 19
  • Tuesday, Sept. 26
