NH chapter of Nam Knights hosting canned food drive at Portsmouth Shaw's

PORTSMOUTH - The Live Free or Die Chapter of the Nam Knights is hosting a canned food drive this weekend from 8 a.m. until to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The drive will be at Shaw's Supermarket, 1600 Woodbury Ave., Portsmouth.

The Nam Knights are a motorcycle social organization aligned with the Dover American Legion Post 8.

This is the drive's third year, and the food will be donated to the Portsmouth Food Pantry.

Cash donations are donated directly to the Navy Chaplain's Fund at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard to help families with an active duty family member meet emergency needs.

Also, peanut butter and/or canned tuna donations will be donated to the Dover End the 68 Hours of Hunger program - a program that aims to send children home from school with food to eat during the 68 hours between school lunch on Friday and school breakfast the following Monday. Every donation goes directly to a hungry child in Dover.
