NH-based toy company recalls thousands of dangerous stuffed animal toys

KEENE — Douglas Company Inc., of Keene, recalled three of their plush animal toys Wednesday due to dangers to child safety.

The company contacted the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission following the discovery that some of their plush toy products had plastic eyes that can detach and pose a choking hazard.

The recall involves the three models featured above: Oliver the Bear, Chewie the English Bulldog and Charlotte the Fox.

No injuries have been reported due to the malfunctioning eyes, but around 25,000 products were sold in specialty stores and gift shops nationwide from July 2014 to April 2017 for approximately $20.

According to the CPSC report, any parent who purchased one should take it from their children and contact the manufacturer for a full refund. Douglas Co. can be reached at 1-800-276-4029 from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday or online at www.douglastoys.com.
