NH AG won't release ID of person who shot, killed teen in Derry as investigation continues

DERRY - The person who shot 17-year-old Cole Kinney told officials it was in self defense, though the shooter's identity has not been released, authorities report.

The investigation into the death of Kinney, who was shot on North Shore Road over a week ago, is continuing. Assistant Attorney General Geoffrey Ward refused to elaborate, but said the investigation remains active, according to the Union Leader.

Kinney, of Lowell, Massachusetts, was discovered dead in the road by police on July 20 following a 911 call.

Friends and neighbors say Kinney was killed as a result of a drug deal gone wrong.
