MEREDITH - The New Hampshire Attorney General's office has identified a nursing home patient who died last Wednesday, ruling it a homicide.
Investigators say Barbara Whittier, 82, was physically assaulted by a male patient, Donald Sleeper, 87, inside her room at the Golden View Health Care Center.
An autopsy report shows that Whittier died of a hypertensive and coronary heart disease with a contributing cause of attempted strangulation.
Sleeper has severe Alzheimer’s dementia, officials said, and he was moved to another facility after the incident.
Officials are calling her death a homicide.
The investigation is ongoing.
