NH AG identified Claremont officer who shot and killed 25-year-old


CLAREMONT — The officer who shot and killed a 25-year-old Claremont man on Sept. 25 has been identified by the attorney general's office.

Corporal Ian Kibbe, a two-and-a-half-year member of the Claremont Police Department, was the only officer present during the time of the shooting, police said.

Cody Lafont was shot three times in the chest by Kibbe, AG said.

There was no recording device that captured the shooting, as the department does not have body cameras or cruiser cameras.

The investigation is ongoing and it is anticipated that a conclusion regarding whether the officer's actions were lawful will be released in the coming weeks.
