Newmarket man listed in critical condition after being freed from crashed truck


NEWMARKET — An 18-year-old man was marked as in critical condition after his car hit a tree on Route 108 at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Cameron Russel of Newmarket was trapped while Newmarket Police Department, Newmarket Fire Rescue, and the Durham Fire Department worked for 20 minutes to free him from a wrecked 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup truck using the Jaws of Life.

Russell had been driving southbound on Route 108 prior to losing control of his truck, and hitting the tree. He was taken to Exeter Hospital, and then Massachusetts General Hospital where he was listed as in critical condition.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
