Newmarket becomes 3rd town in New Hampshire to pass transgender resolution
NEWMARKET — Town councilors passed a resolution on Wednesday night to support the rights for transgender individuals,
According to the Union Leader, the resolution passed 5-2, and is put in place to ensure, "equality of all individuals without regard to actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression."
Newmarket is the third community in New Hampshire to adopt this type of resolution.
Town Administrator, Stephen Fournier clarified that the passing of the resolution is limited to town government and does not affect Newmarket's schools or private business. It does allow individuals to use public bathrooms based on their gender identities.
