New York man arrested in Portsmouth, charged with stealing firearms

PORTSMOUTH - A New York man was arrested in his hotel and charged with burglary of firearms on Saturday.

Police say the firearms were stolen from a residence on Middle Road.

Barkym Brown, 36, of Bronx, N.Y., was arrested at his hotel on Woodbury Avenue by the Portsmouth Police Department with the assistance of the Seacoast Emergency Response Team (SERT) and Strafford County Tactical Special Operations Unit. Brown was taken into custody without incident.

Brown was wanted in New York City on a felony bench warrant. Portsmouth police charged him with fugitive from justice, burglary, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to distribute - all felonies - and possession of burglary tools.

Bail was set at $75,000 cash. Brown will be arraigned Monday at the 10th Circuit – District Division Portsmouth via video arraignment.
