New York City police officers shot

BRONX- Two police officers taking part in a drug-related investigation at E. 156th Street were shot Thursday night.

News reports conflict on the number of suspects directly involved and the extent of their injuries.

The injured officers were taken to nearby Lincoln Hospital. One officer was shot in the cheek. The other was shot in the leg. The injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.

Mayor Bill de Blasio was giving a state-of-the-city address about 5 miles from the scene, at Lehman College. He was informed of the incident after he finished his remarks. He went directly to the hospital.
