New playmakers set to spice up Jets' offense

The Associated Press

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) New York Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg says it's "an exciting challenge" to have a handful of new, big-name playmakers set to make their regular-season debuts Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.

Wide receiver Eric Decker, running back Chris Johnson and rookie tight end Jace Amaro are expected to provide quarterback Geno Smith with some reliable targets and spice up an offense that could be more potent this season.

Decker gives the Jets a reliable receiver who can draw double-teams down the field. Johnson is a speedy runner who's hungry to put last season with Tennessee far behind him. Amaro, the Jets' second-round pick, is feeling comfortable in the offense after some early summer struggles and could quickly become a favorite of Smith in the middle of the field.
