Police: Crash in NH That Killed 2 Was Caused by Drunken Driver
CROYDON — Authorities in New Hampshire say that two people have died after their car was hit by a drunken driver.
According to police, the multiple vehicle crash happened Friday just after 11 p.m. on Route 10 just south of river road in Croydon.
Responders say Kristine Lake, 22, of Sharon, Vermont, was driving a tan 2006 Hyundai Sonata in the northbound lane when she drifted into the southbound lane hitting a dark blue 2001 Volvo S80 head on.
Police identified the driver of the Volvo as Michelle J. Fenimore, 20, of Brownington, Vermont, and the passenger Nicholas Carpenter, 18, of Coventry, Vermont.
According to police, both Fenimore and Carpenter were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Police say Lake suffered minor injuries and was subsequently arrested for two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated, and negligent homicide.
Lake was released on $50,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in the Newport district court Oct. 3.
