NH woman transported to hospital after mistakenly hitting gas, crashing into strip mall
HAMPSTEAD — A woman was transported to the hospital after crashing into a strip mall support beam Wednesday.
Hampstead police said around 12:30 p.m. they received a report that a car had crashed into a building in Colby Corner plaza on East Main Street.
First responders found a 2011 Ford Focus had smashed into the front of a support post in front of the strip mall, causing extensive damage to the vehicle and the post.
Police said their investigation suggested that the driver, Sheena Lewis, 74, of Hampstead, was pulling into a handicapped parking spot and hit the gas instead of the brake.
Police said she was treated at the scene and transported to Parkland Medical Center for complaints of pain to her head and chest.
