PORTSMOUTH — The community is mourning Ciara Brill who passed away Tuesday after battling a rare brain cancer.
Little Harbour School Assistant Principal Erin Lawson told Seacoastonline that Ciara’s father, Harold Brill, emailed the school Tuesday to let officials know about his daughter’s death. She would have been a fourth-grader this school year.
Doctors diagnosed Ciara with a rare brain tumor called diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma or DIPG in December. The tumor was located in part of the brain stem and could not be operated on.
School officials plan on making counseling available to Ciara's fellow students and their parents, Seacoastonline reported.
