Impaired Vermont Man Hit by Vehicle in NH, Smashing Through Windows
LEBANON — An impaired Vermont man was sent to the hospital Saturday after being struck by a car near a Lebanon intersection, police said.
Just before 2 a.m. Nov. 11, Lebanon police and fire responded to reports of a pedestrian being stuck by a car and needing medical attention. The crash occurred near the intersection of North Main Street and East Wilder Road.
The driver of the car, Derek Moniz, was traveling south on North Main Street when he struck 21-year-old Anthony Ciaccia, who was walking in the road.
Police say the impairment of Ciaccia, of White River Junction, Vermont, appears to be a contributing factor of the accident.
Ciaccia was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to be released later in the week.
The accident is still under investigation, but police say no charges for either men involved are anticipated.
