New Hampshire man sentenced to 78 months in child porn case

The Associated Press

CONCORD - A New Hampshire man will spend more than six years in prison after being convicted of possessing child pornography.

Federal prosecutors say 34-year-old John Howe Jr., of Troy, was sentenced Friday to 6½ years in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release.

Authorities say the FBI in 2014 received information that a website promoting the exploitation of children was being accessed by a computer at Howe's home.

Investigators obtained a search warrant in September of 2014 and say they found a collection of videos and still images of child pornography on one of Howe's electronic devices.

Howe's arrest and prosecution were part of Project Safe Childhood — an effort that began 10 years ago to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
