New Hampshire has no plans to activate emergency center

The Associated Press

CONCORD — New Hampshire authorities say they don't plan to activate the State Emergency Operations Center at this time, as it seems likely Hurricane Joaquin will pass well east of the state.

Perry Plummer, director of Homeland Security, said conference calls were held with Gov. Maggie Hassan, department heads, and state and local emergency management directors on Friday to review response plans and the potential needs of the state if a storm should impact New Hampshire.

Forecasters said Hurricane Joaquin would probably veer out to sea instead of joining up with a drenching rainstorm that is bringing severe flooding to parts of the Atlantic Seaboard.
