New Hampshire Fisher Cats win in home opener in extra innings

MANCHESTER - In a walk-off victory over the New York Yankees affiliate, the Trenton Thunder, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats welcomed back fans in their home opener at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

In the 10th inning, the Fisher Cats picked up a 6-5 win.

Before the game, players explained how the rain-out and snow-out from last week made things tricky to get back into the groove.

"Playing in the snow, got to get through it;playing in the heat, got to get through it too so it's a well balanced mix but I think dust off the cobwebs a bit and get back into things," said right-handed pitcher Brady Dragmire.

"You just try to stay around .500 and get your at bats in and timing down," KC Hobson, a returning first baseman. "The New England weather sometimes in the Northeast you don't have time to go out there and hit."

To kick things off the team celebrated the state's 100th Primary asking fans to vote for their favorite - either donkey or elephant hat, blue or red. They got votes from all 50 states.

The winning selection was the red hat which they wore for the first home game of the season.
