New Hampshire Fire Academy site of dinner thank you for utility crews
CONCORD - State officials have helped provide overnight housing and tonight a thank-you dinner at the New Hampshire Fire Academy.
Gov. Maggie Hassan is expected to be on hand when local utilities supply dinner to several hundred crews who have worked round the clock to restore power.
Emergency Management Director Perry Plummer said about 60 crews were given beds at the fire academy which traditionally houses firefighting recruits.
"The utilities are providing the food but we are supplying the venue. It's just a small thank you for all they have done to help New Hampshire get back on its feet,'' Plummer said during an interview.
Crews from as far away as Tennessee, Missouri and the Carolinas as well as Quebec and other parts of Canada have converged on New Hampshire that by far had the largest number of power outages of any Northeastern state from this storm.
"We really appreciate the helping hand they have offered us. It has been essential to getting on top of this," Plummer said.
