New Hampshire addiction expert to attend President's address

The Associated Press

CONCORD — A leading New Hampshire addiction and substance abuse expert will attend the president's State of the Union Address.

Sen. Kelly Ayotte says she's invited Dr. Seddon Savage, director of the Dartmouth Center on Addiction Recovery and Education, to attend the president's speech Tuesday in the House Chamber at the U.S. Capitol.

Savage also chairs the New Hampshire Medical Society's Task Force on Prescription Medication Abuse and is a member of the Governor's Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.

Ayotte said Savage's expertise is critical to curbing New Hampshire's growing heroin epidemic and the abuse of prescription pain medications.

Savage has been director of the Dartmouth center for the past 10 years.
