New England police arrest suspect in connection to murder of Vanessa Marcotte

PRINCETON, Mass. — An arrest has been made in connection to the murder of Vanessa Marcotte back in August of 2016.

A source told FOX25 that state police arrested a suspect early Saturday morning. The suspect allegedly lives in the area where the murder took place.

Marcotte, 27, was a Google executive living in New York City. She was visiting her mother in Princeton, Mass. when the murder took place, she was out on a run.

Her body was found the next day less than a mile from her mothers home. Officials said she had burns on her head and feet.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said in February that DNA evidence showed that the suspect in the killing of Marcotte was a Hispanic or Latino man, about 30 years old, with light to medium-toned skin and an athletic build.

The identification of the suspect has not yet been released. Early Jr. will hold a press conference about the arrest around 2 p.m. Saturday.

NH1 will update as more information becomes available.
